Pi Delta Chapter at the University of Maryland
About Us
Alpha Omicron Pi is an international women's fraternity promoting friendship for a lifetime, inspiring academic excellence and lifelong learning, and developing leadership skills through service to the fraternity and community.
It was founded Jan. 2, 1897 at Barnard College at Columbia University by four young women who shared these values.
The object of the Fraternity shall be to encourage a spirit of Fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interest of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed, and in no way to disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interests for the sake of prestige or advancement of the Fraternity or any of its chapters.

Pi Delta
The Pi Delta chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi was established at the University of Maryland on October 25, 1924. It is one of fifteen collegiate sorority chapters at the University.
Being a part of Greek Life at UMD means being part of a successful organization and community. A Pi Delta sister writes:
I am proud to call myself a Terp. Even more than that, however, I am proud to call myself a part of Greek Life at UMD. Departments such as the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Panhellenic Association ensure that even at a large public university like Maryland, the Greek Community is personalized and intimate. They offer Greek scholarships and other opportunities to become involved, and serve as a great support system and network while also working to keep us safe. Chapters celebrate together with events like Greek Week and Homecoming, and pull together in support in times of need. I am so grateful to be part of such a strong and vibrant community that is UMD Greek Life.
