Our Sisters Abroad

Kelly, Senior
"I was lucky enough to go abroad with 5 of my best friends and sisters! The six of us lived in an apartment together in Barcelona, Spain for the spring semester of our Junior year. We traveled together to different countries and cities on the weekends, and got to explore Barcelona on the weekdays. Having these girls created such a wonderful support system abroad and made the whole experience much easier. My sisters were always there to help me when I needed them and always there to talk to. We had so many amazing and fun experiences that brought us even closer together and created memories to last a lifetime!"

Catherine, Junior
"Even though I couldn't go abroad for a whole semester, I was so happy to study abroad in New Zealand for three weeks. The trip focused on environmental sustainability, but I also got to go bungee jumping and skydiving. The whole trip was like living in a postcard."

Jillian, Senior
"I had the experience of a lifetime traveling abroad. I lived in Rome, Italy for 4 months and traveled to places such as Interlaken, Paris, Amsterdam, Capri, Sorrento, Venice, Florence, Barcelona, and more! I would encourage everyone to travel if they have the opportunity! It is truly inspiring and I think an experience everyone should have if given the chance."

Nicole, Junior
"Barcelona has been an absolutely incredible experience so far. In two short weeks, we have had the opportunity to explore the beach at Barceloneta, see Gaudi's amazing architecture at Park Guell and Sagrada Familia, and enjoy authentic Spanish paella, tapas, and sangria at Port Olimpic where the 1992 Summer Olympics were held. Aside from a six hour time difference, Barcelona's lifestyle is much
different from College Park in the clothing worn, meal schedules, and food preferences.
While there are times I miss Wasabi being right next door and living in a house with 47 girls, I am so fortunate to get to experience life abroad with two of my sisters - Emily and Brie. They are constant reminders of AOII and the friendships that remain across the Atlantic.
There is much to look forward to in the next four months! I cannot wait to travel outside beautiful Barcelona across Europe to Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, and Paris. And I am most excited for visits from our sisters back home over spring break!"
